Here at hm.church, we know that culture either happens by default or by design.
Rather than allowing our feelings, upbringing, or the standards of our society take the lead, our goal is to intentionally and consistently create the culture we want to see.
This page is your guide to the culture and language at hm.church. We must have the consistency of language across our church to provide clarity for everyone.

MORE PEOPLE BECOMING MORE LIKE JESUS
Jesus' last words are our first priority.

As a church, we exist to see souls saved and disciples made. We exist to see more people becoming more like Jesus.
This statement speaks of multiplication and discipleship; it is a mission to expand our community, not just in numbers, but in the depth of our faith. We're committed to reaching more of the coast and extending the invitation to experience the transformative power of Jesus' teachings. Simultaneously, we're focused on deepening our understanding and embodiment of those teachings and fostering a community of disciples who reflect the love and grace of Jesus.

OUR VALUES
WAYS WE DO COMMUNITY
We do things simple, but effective here at hm.church. We can’t be everything for everyone. We have a lane to run in and a specific mission to accomplish, we do this through Sunday services, Connect Groups and raising leaders through our teams. Simple, just how it should be.
SUNDAY SERVICE
The large, corporate gathering of our church community every Sunday. Our Sunday service is always centred on worshipping God, preaching from the Bible, and connecting with others. Your kids will also have a bunch of fun at our hm.kids program every Sunday. Every Sunday, we want each service to feel like family and for people to have an encounter with Jesus.
CONNECT GROUPS
The small, intimate gatherings of our church community - this is where discipleship happens. Our Connect Groups are typically groups of 5-15 people who meet regularly in homes or cafes to hang out, discuss a recent Sunday message and pray together. Connect Groups at hm.church are a place where you will be strengthened, supported and spiritually grow.
JOIN A TEAM
We believe the greatest leadership is service to others. We encourage everyone who calls hm.church home to join the team to begin making a difference and find their purpose while serving others. We can all play a part in what God is doing no matter our age or background. There is a place for everyone!
TEAM REQUIREMENTS
We’re committed to the house - we are praying for the church and leaders, attending Sunday services, all in team meetings, tithing
We practice what we preach - we are committed to our daily walk with The Lord. We prioritise prayer, regular Bible reading, worship and living a life that reflects Jesus well.
We choose to set the standard - we are on time and prepared, dress appropriately, speak honourably, commit to what we say, bring our passion to the house, open our Bibles in service, understand the “first and last 15” (come 15 mins early, stay 15 mins late - the mingle is more valuable than you realise)
We communicate often - upline any issues or concerns, give early notice if unavailable, reply to group messages, engage with church social media
OUR 5 REALMS OF INFLUENCE
Our influence goes farther than we know. Understanding our different realms of influence is important so that we can continue to help build the local church and expand God’s kingdom.
1- Coast - People of the Sunshine Coast: The coast is not going to come to us, we get to go to them. We influence the coast by taking the love of Jesus out and inviting them in.
What relationships do you have outside of the church?
2- Crowd - People in Church: The crowd are the visitors / regular attendees who are not yet plugged into a Connect Group / serving on team but show interest by being in the room. As a team member, you help shape the face of hm.church. We influence the crowd by modeling what it looks like to be a part of the church not just by words but actions.
How do you reflect the values of hm.church?
3- Congregation - People attending a Connect Group: The congregation are the people who have taken a next step to call hm.church home and are being discipled through a Connect Group. We influence the congregation through shoulder to shoulder discipleship.
Who is discipling you and who are you helping to disciple?
4- Contributor - People on Team: The contributors are the people who are committed by signing up to be a part of what we are doing. We influence them by coaching them through celebration and correction.
How are you helping serve the vision of the house and role of your team?
5- Core - Pastors, Heads of departments and Connect Group leaders: The core are the people with the greatest investment, greatest sacrifice and greatest dedication. These are the faithful and reliable people who lead by example.

Our 5-Year Strategic Ambition
In our 5-year strategic plan, we're focused on three key elements:
1. ‘Fixing our nets’ to strengthen the foundational fabric of our community;
2. ‘Filling our funnels’ to build a robust pipeline of people to maximise our collective experience;
3. ‘Flexing our capacity’ to secure funding for our vision and concentrate efforts on executing our strategic plan with precision.
